MIG staff is well versed in the TDGA, the EPA, the Gasoline Handling Act, the Hazardous Waste Regulations and Ontario Decommissioning Guidelines, and, is trained in obtaining site information through title searches at local land registry offices, historical research at local libraries, reviews of insurance plans and aerial photograph interpretation.
MIG has a comprehensive library which includes copies of over 100 Federal, Ontario and Quebec Environmental statutes, regulations and guidelines in addition to publications dealing with environmental technologies and environmental management. MIG also has access to information and data base search services through the University of Western Ontario.
MIG provides practical solutions to the environmental and engineering problems of both public and private sectors.
ENVIRONMENTALLY-RELATED REAL ESTATE TRANSFER SERVICES
Over the years, MIG Engineering Ltd. has completed a number of environmental projects and has noted the escalation of the environmental compliance requirements as well as demand for environmental services, more particularly in the areas of environmental assessments and environmental audits with regard to Property Transfer.
In response to this demand, MIG is providing Environmental Assessments for Real Estate purposes; Property Transfer Services for Phase I (Site History, Interviews and Visual Inspection) and Phase II (Surface and Subsurface Sampling). Audits as well as recommendations for Phase III (Decommissioning).
MIG has the capacity to offer a number of environmental assessment services including:
MIG understands the time constraints often involved with Property Transfer Transactions. As such, MIG will provide a cost estimate for real estate audits on the same day, subject to the complexity of the project. Further, MIG will endeavour to complete the audit program and report to meet schedule.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTS/AUDITS
MIG's environmental assessment team has sound experience in environmental assessments, real estate audits, compliance audits, site remediation and decommissioning, supported by a strong civil and environmental engineering team.
The audit team members have a thorough understanding of many diverse issues regarding environmental assessments and of the generally accepted environmental investigation standards as identified by both the Canadian Standards Association, the Municipal Engineers Association, the Consulting Engineers of Ontario and the Consulting Engineers of Canada.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND ROUTING STUDIES
MIG has prepared and/or participated in numerous Environmental Impact Studies. To date, they have included various pipeline corridors including several international crossings via the St. Clair River to the state of Michigan, USA. These studies included items such as natural and cultural concerns, alternative routing, mitigating measures, and public participation and met the requirements of various Energy Acts.
